The LUMIX Festival for Young Photojournalism is a four-day-long photographic exposition organized by University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hanover in collaboration with the German photojournalist association FREELENS.
It invites young photojournalists from all over the world to submit their best work to find young talents who can capture the essence of newsworthy moments. The event´s curating team will review all submissions and invite the authors of the 60 best photo series, essays or reportages to expose their work during the festival, which will last from June 15 to June 19, 2016.
The committee will also award four different types of prizes for a total sum of 20,000€.
The Freelens Award
Freelens will grant an award amounting to 10,000€ to the best picture series, essay or reportage. Two honorable mentions awards will also be announced during the closing party and will earn a prize of 1000€ each.
The Lammerhuber Award
The Lammerhuber Photography Award will be handed by the by the publishing house EDITION LAMMERHUBER, which was acclaimed the Best Publishing House for Photobooks in 2013. The 5,000€ reward will be given to the reportage that tells the most impressive story of everyday life.
The Lumix Multimedia Award
Panasonic the main sponsors of the festival and will award a 5,000€ prize to the work they consider best. This time, participants will not have to submit photographs but rather multimedia files such as videos, slideshares, and others, in respect of the journalistic intent of the festival. Two honorable prizes of 1000€ each will also be granted.
The Haz Audience Award
The Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung (HAZ), the biggest regional newspaper, will donate a 1,000€ prize to the winner chosen by the audience. Visitors will be encouraged to cast their votes at the info-point in the Design Center for the whole duration of the festival, thereby automatically entering a raffle to win one of three LUMIX cameras.
The festivals will also feature evening lectures and daily workshops by some of the most famous photographs worldwide, such as Steve McCurry, Espen Rasmussen, Francesco Zizola and others.Application deadline | Fecha de inscripción: 31/01/2016
