Sydney Bennett.

Sydney is currently a sophomore at Utah State University with a declared major in Art History. She has developed a great love and appreciation for art in all its many forms. That love for art has come in different ways. Sydney has made an effort to visit many of the world’s great museums and to see their precious works of art in person. Her passion for art, however, is not limited to the works found in museums. She is an avid photographer. She has an eye for beauty and an ability to capture the details that most people miss when they are behind a camera lens. More specifically, in addition to the formal education she has involving her camera, she has practical experience working with portraits for weddings or special occasions, and working in nature, travel and landscape photography. Sydney has also worked to enhance her creative writing skills. In addition to the typical college writing courses, she has made an effort to write about personal experiences, her travels and other meaningful life experiences. While seeing the world’s artistic masterpieces first hand has been rewarding, she has also found that observing life in many of the world’s great cities can be equally rewarding. Whether it be Madrid, Paris, Rome, New Delhi, New York or somewhere similar, there are always people to see and culture to experience. Her goal in life is to do exactly what she loves and her dream job would be a national geographic photographer. In short, this Internship Seminar could not be more perfect and she cannot wait to work along side people that she strives to be one day.

His engagement with the journalists, artists, and filmmakers in Abu Dhabi/Dubai enabled him to realize the great extent to which the MENASA region is enthusiastic about multicultural music and arts delivered by news media and online platforms, and also the potential in which journalism can and should address the audience in West Asia.
His passion for journalism in arts and culture extends not only to the development of the arts and culture themselves, but also the people who are involved in making them. Witnessing the prodigious talents of savant syndrome artists to paint in his hometown, he created a social enterprise that creates goods and merchandise from the designs of their paintings, and produced written pieces about the project, and published them in major newspapers in Korea. He wants to expand his understanding and skills of arts/culture journalism at ROOSTERGNN, by referring to its many creative initiatives, such as the Artist Residency program in Spain and Cuba. Mingu also possesses highly relevant experience in brand development in international scale, as he was the only under-aged Secretariat in the history of the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity, an international forum that gathers more than 5000 participants from 60 countries. As a new up-and-coming journalist, Yafa has always been interested in writing news articles and has won a Keystone Press Award during her sophomore year of college. She is also interested in magazine storytelling, photo essays and producing short informative videos. As an undergraduate, she strengthened her skills in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, iMovie and several more photo and video applications. During her magazine writing class, a passion inside her rose, driving to speak out against skewed media stories. For example, witnessing stereotypes, misrepresentations, sexism and false accusations, by biased media organizations disturbed her to the degree of action. She has decided that if the news outlets that we watch every day will not fact check their stories, then she certainly will. As a woman of color who identifies as a Palestinian-American, Yafa knows firsthand what can happen when journalists drop the ball. In journalism, listening to people is key and is a gift that she has proudly kept through her visits to the Middle-East. Honest reporting allows citizens to respect journalists and this is a personal character trait that she holds near and dear to her heart. Reporting on immigrants, and refugees requires strong journalism skills and even stronger personal traits, she is proud to carry both. Her career goals are the following – one day become a magazine writer for Jadaliyya, a film maker that documents cultural appropriation, and a news producer for Al-Jazeera. She would also like to be a foreign correspondent based in the Middle East. Lastly, she would like to create a niche magazine for people of color that have been neglected or dismissed by their own governments and biased media companies. Creating this magazine will shed light on their hardships which is what a journalists should do, listen.
