You pitch your ideas for travel articles – and we show you all the tools for success at Editorial Meetings, Journalism Workshops, Photography & Video Workshops, Mentoring Sessions, and Feedback Sessions with Experts and Mentors.

At the end of the Journalism, Photography & Video Internship Seminar, you’ll graduate with a Portfolio of Published Content, published in the news agency, a Journalism, Photography & Video Internship Certification, a Certification of Academic Credit, as well as a Letter of Recommendation of Merit, if applicable.

The Internship Seminar includes housing and 24 hour local emergency support.

What’s included.

  • Journalism,  Photography & Video Program with RGNN Editos (see bios here).
    • Welcome Packet.
    • Orientation.
    • Editorial Meetings. Students pitch ideas for articles and for photo/video portfolio. Articles and portfolios are assigned.
    • Group Mentoring Sessions, addressing the progress students have made on their articles and photo/video portfolio.
    • Group Feedback Sessions. Students receive hands-on feedback on their articles and photo/video portfolio.
  • Publish your own Magazine!
    • Each student will get to publish articles and photographs in the ROOSTERGNN magazine, published in digital format, with the student’s byline on all of his/her articles, photographs and videos. The “travel journalism” concept refers to journalism while traveling. Students can create content for all of the following channels of the news agency:
      • Gobernanza. Politics, Economy & Business.
      • Innovation. Science, Tech & Education.
      • Espectaculart. Art, Culture & Sports.
      • Glamour. Fashion, Lifestyle, Social Media, Celebrities.
      • GapBrave. Travel (Global).
      • MADbudget. Travel Guide to Madrid, Spain.

Journalism, Photography & Video Workshops. View a sample list of Workshops here. The program includes four (4) Workshops per Two-Week Module, including:

  • One (1) Journalism Workshop, which can address the following topics: preparation and research; writing; editing; publication and possible markets; design; social media and other useful tools.
  • One (1) Professional Development for Journalists Session. Advice will be given on, for example, how to put together a resume, how to apply for future journalism jobs, how to prepare for a job interview, etc.
  • Two (2) Photography & Video Workshops: followed by an orientation, there will be two street photography & video workshops out and about in Madrid alongside the Expert.


  • Professional Headshot and Video Photoshoot. Students will go behind the scenes at RGNN and have a professional headshot and video session at the RGNN film and photo studio. Marketers today must be able to speak in front of the camera! Specifically, students will take home a professional “headshot” (profile photo) for their resume, and will carry out a video presentation test on an established topic.
  • Experts & Mentors. The Internship Seminar includes the collaboration of prestigious Experts and Mentors. View sample list of Experts and Mentors for each Module here.
  • Cultural Immersion Program. The Internship Seminar includes one Site Visit per Week, as well as a Typical Spanish Tapas Networking Farewell Reception at the end of the program. Past Site Visits have included Matadero Madrid, one of Madrid’s most innovative cultural centers, and the newsroom of El Mundo, one of Spain’s most important daily newspapers.

Housing & 24 hour local emergency support.

Housing in furnished studio apartments selected by RGNN in the central neighborhood of Salamanca in Madrid, Spain. Thirteen (13) nights. Housing is shared in double apartments (2 individual beds). Each studio apartment has its own bathroom and kitchen, air-conditioning, as well as weekly cleaning and change of sheets and towels. The building moreover has wifi, 24 hour concierge, laudromat and dryer room, swimming pool and sundeck. The entry of persons foreign to the Program is not permitted in the houses. Alcohol within the apartments is also not permitted. RGNN will assign accommodation. The dates in which housing will be available are:

  • MODULE I: Sunday, July 15, 2018 to Saturday, July 28, 2018.
  • MODULE II: Sunday, July 29, 2018 to Saturday, August 11, 2018.

The Internship Seminar moreover includes local emergency support: 24 hours, bilingual (English and Spanish).

Completing a Two-Week Module allows students to obtain the following academic or curricular documentation:

  • Certification of Portfolio of Published Content.
  • Internship Seminar Certification specializing in Journalism, Photography & Video.
  • Certification of Academic Credit. 80 hours per Two-Week Module.
  • Processing of University Agreements and/or other External Documentation for Academic Credit.

Completing more than one Two-Week Module allows students to obtain the following academic or curricular documentation:

  • Letter of Recommendation of Merit, if applicable.


Each Two-Week Module culminates in the publication of a magazine. Students can enroll in one single Two-Week Module, or in various — the Workshops DO NOT repeat themselves. Please see sample list of Workshops here.

Application deadline: Spots for the Madrid program are extremely limited. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Applications will close once the program is full.

Selection process: The selection process is rigorous and includes a Skype interview for all candidates of interest. Previous journalism experience is not required, but a passion for journalism, photography and/or video is a must. Open to students, recent graduates, and aspiring journalists.

Languages: All of the Experts and Mentors are bilingual. To participate in the Seminars, it is required that students have knowledge of at least ONE of these languages. Students can choose to write their articles in English, Spanish or both (English-Spanish).

Group size: Feedback at ROOSTERGNN Academy is hands-on. For this reason, all of our Internship Seminars are extremely selective and limited to small group sizes.
