Many years ago, I first saw Palomo Spain showing at Madrid Fashion Week. Now, he has become Spain’s most avant-garde fashion designer, donning the streets of New York with his infamous “genderless fashion.” When the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando kindly invited us to the presentation of Luis Sala’s new book: “Vestir es soñar: De Fortuny a Palomo” (“To dress is to dream: From Fortuny to Palomo”), Palomo came along again. You can view my full Instagram post here.
My outfit? Inspired by the Spanish flag, starting with a red bubble dress from Zara. At the event, the speakers talked all about how Spanish fashion giants (hello, Inditex) need to join forces with smaller moda de autor (auteur fashion), and I could not agree more. As for the shoes, I don’t own any yellow shoes (yet!), so I went for gold Christian Louboutin So Kate’s instead. (If you want to read all about the shoes – please head on over to my article “Are Christian Louboutin’s So Kate Pumps Really the Most Uncomfortable Shoes Ever?”). The rest is matchy matchy – I glammed it up with the Bulgari Serpenti Forever Maxi Chain bag I wore to the Bulgari x Refik Anadol exhibition earlier this year and a pair of gold Celine hoop earrings. Beauty products? Red nails (Essie Forever Yummy, one of my night out faves) and a curly updo thanks to my GHD Classic Curl Tong and a bunch of blonde bobby pins. Shop my edit below, enjoy!
