I’m a 19-year-old queer feminist from Kazakhstan. I lived half my life in Uzbekistan, where people value their culture and history. National clothing, footwear, jewelry, all easily available on the market. Seeing as how much women in Central Asia put into these things, I started to really appreciate those clothes and handmade jewelry. So many of my clothes are made from my own sketches by talented Uzbek seamstresses. I also lived for 1.5 years in China, where I watched people buy a lot of low-quality and cheap clothes. so I prefer always to take what I can wear for a very long time even if the price is higher. That’s why I like to buy things in a secondhand and sometimes draw on them. I’m still looking for my style, but I’m pretty sure I want a piece of cultural heritage in it.
